Gathered Together in Aberdeen!

As part of our work to support ethnic and cultural minority parents to become more involved in their child’s education and the school community we will be holding sessions for parents in ABERDEEN at the end of October.

We have two sessions booked for Parents and one for Parent Councils, have a look below for details of the sessions.

SESSIONS FOR PARENTS

We want to hear from all PARENTS/CARERS from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds about your feelings on education, schools and help you to find out what your rights and role as a parent are.

At the end of the session you will be able to:

  • Talk about barriers you face to getting involved
  • Have a better understanding of what Parent Councils can do
  • Know how you can get more involved in your child’s school and education

Wednesday 29th October 2014 1.15pm – 3.15pm at Hanover Street Primary School

Thursday 30th 2014, 9.30am to 11.30am at Rosemount Community Centre 

Please let us know if you would like to attend or if you have any questions regarding the sessions.

 

SESSION FOR PARENT COUNCILS

This session is for PARENTS COUNCILS wanting to engage with the wider parent forum, particularly parents from Ethnic Minorities.

By the end of the session you should be able to:

  • Identify groups who might have barriers to involvement
  • Describe what these barriers are
  • Develop strategies for how they can be overcome
